MICRO LED MODULAR TV

A MODULAR TV is a module (panels) based display television that can scale up to any size, giving consumers the ability to buy as many modules as they want to combine with a custom-sized screen optimized for their living rooms.


Samsung unveiled the first module-based display television this year to consumer electronics show (CES).


Samsung Electronics introduced “The Wall”–the world’s first consumer modular Micro LED 146-inch TV at its annual First Look CES event. The above image shows “The Wall” 



The Micro LED technology featured in “The Wall” eliminates the need for color filters or backlight, yet allows the screen to offer consumers the ultimate viewing experience. Also, the Micro LED screen excels in durability and effectiveness, including luminous efficiency, the light source a lifetime, and power consumption, setting the standard for future screen technology.


Micro LED uses millions of tiny individual LED's to create an image with the picture quality that promises to deliver that perfect blacks and viewing angles of OLED and the superior brightness and no burning of the QLED the best of both worlds essentially which would be amazing. Samsung has claimed micro-LED technology has twice the color purity and a wider color gamut and conventional LEDs.


How does the Modular TV work? 

The Modular television works on Magnets, Each of these modular squares has a backplate that mounts directly into the wall. There's kind of like a master square that controls all the surrounding squares. And each of the rear panels has two little latches that pop up, there are little metal contact pads, and they clip into the panel next to it just like a little connector to get their information and signal from that master square in the center. And because each of these little modular panels has no bezels, you can stick them right next to each other and the seam disappears when the content is displaying. Now, this isn't on the market just yet, it's just where TVs are the way of the future, and the same technology that they're using in these modular blocks is used in Samsung's massive TV.

The first image shows the metal contact pads of the rear panels on which we allocate the front panels, and the second image shows the two latches of the rear panels through the rear panels will connect.

 What are its Advantages?

  • Micro LED delivers that perfect viewing angle of OLED and the superior brightness and no burning of the QLED the best of both worlds.
  •  They are completely modular and customizable.
  • These TVs are Size-free, ratio-free, bezel-free, and resolution-free. You can combine these little squares together to make a TV as big or small as you want.
  •   Since these TVs come in modules, it is easy to move than the other TVs.
  •  Its repairability, if one-panel breaks. Instead of replacing the whole TV, you can just replace one particular panel.
  •  Micro LED doesn’t have any lead frame and metal wire and therefore reduces packaging costs on traditional SMD LEDs.
  •  Micro-LED displays will also offer a longer lifespan than current OLED panels.

Disadvantages

  •  Very expensive 3-4 times more expensive than OLED panels.
  • The micro-LED display technology still faces some challenges, like the transfer printing of micro-LED chips for mass production.
  • This resolution free TVs scale up to 4k or 8k, but obviously not everything is 8k content just yet; we are barely getting in the 4k realm.
